March 2023 Meeting – Brian Griffin

Tuesday, March 7th, 7:00pm
Mount Vernon Christian School
820 W Blackburn Rd, Mt Vernon, WA 98273

Brian Griffin retired as an insurance broker 32 years ago and soon found himself in another business selling and writing about Orchard Mason Bees. After a dozen years in the bee business he retired again to relax and play his homemade ukulele. His retirement did not last. For the last dozen years he has found himself in another business, Lutherie, the making of stringed instruments, namely the ukulele.

Griffin will tell of the unexpected growth of his new business, show us some of his instruments and discuss the methods and materials used in building a ukulele. He might even play us a tune. Visit his website here.

February 2023 Meeting – Meet the Board

Tuesday, February 7th, 7:00pm
Burlington Library
820 E Washington Avenue, Burlington, WA 98233

The meeting format for this Tuesday will be a little different than we are used to. I want to use a good part of the meeting to introduce the 2023 Board of Directors to the membership and have a time of interaction between the membership and the board. This is your opportunity to voice concerns, give suggestions, and basically let us know how we can best serve you. (Yes, there will be time for Bring-and-Brag as well. We may even squeeze in a short program on choosing bandsaw blades!)

January 2023 Virtual Meeting – Tom Howorth

Tuesday, January 3rd, 7:00pm

This will be a remote Zoom meeting consisting of a presentation by Tom Howorth on measuring with the metric system. The meeting will also include remotely-conducted business such as committee reports, etc. We will conduct the Bring-and-Brag as we normally do for a Zoom meeting. Please send photos of projects and descriptions to Greg Koenker as in the past.

Our February meeting will be in-person at the Burlington Library. More info in next month’s newsletter.

December 2022 Meeting – Year-end Recap

Tuesday, December 6th, 7:00pm
Burlington Library
820 E Washington Avenue, Burlington, WA 98233

We all owe a great deal of gratitude to our out-going Club President, Greg Koenker, for successfully steering the club through a third year of pandemic-related uncertainty. As a club, we were able to dip our toes back in the water with regard to public events, and Greg’s leadership was pivotal in
making that happen.

Come give him a hearty “Thanks” and help send Greg off into the sunset as he hosts the final meeting of 2022!

You don’t want to miss this last chance to see everyone before the holidays consume our lives. And there will be a LOT happening at the meeting…

• As is the club’s tradition, the president will celebrate the conclusion of duties (YAY!) and present a Year-End Wrap-Up highlighting our many club shenanigans over the past 12 months.
• Greg will lead us in voting for the incoming Officers and announce the 2023 Board of Directors.
• There will be an in-person Bring and Brag, so grab a project you want to showcase, and bring it to the meeting for all to see.
• Jerry Couchman and David Shull will be handing out new-member name tags.
• There will be a raffle benefiting Toys for Tots. Bring some CASH and show your support!
• Al Ashley will be on deck for paying your 2023 dues in person.
